There is to be an assessment of all the Conservation Areas in the Harrogate District. The last appraisal was 10 years ago. You are invited to participate and add your personal views to this assessment that relating to the future of the Duchy Estate?

Duchy Residents obviously have a special interest in the area – we are here because we like the characteristics of the Estate and the benefits of living here. But it needs our attention, now, if the qualities we value are to continue and be enhanced, for ourselves and for generations in the future.

Your opinion counts – TELL the Council specifically about the features we most appreciate on the Duchy. Some of us will say, perhaps, that we would like to maintain as far as possible the openness between the houses and to prevent injudicious infilling. If you think, for instance, that the conversion of one Duchy house into several flats should have conditions attached to retain the character of the garden as well as the house – this is your chance to say so.

This is an opportunity to provide the planning and conservation departments with local knowledge of your own patch. They need to know what you would most like to see conserved here and what extra measures you think are needed. If you’d like to contribute please will you :
