Join the Duchy Residents’ Association
The Residents’ Association exists to protect and preserve the following characteristics of the Conservation Area:
- The balance between the built environment and gardens, hedges and trees
- The privacy and amenity of neighbours
- The relatively low (for Harrogate) ratio of building to plot
- The setting of the estate adjacent to open fields, the Pinewoods and Birk Crag
- The heritage value and architectural quality of buildings
The committee reviews planning applications which affect the Conservation Area. We also coordinate neighbourhood response to crime or security issues affecting the area, promote charity and community events where appropriate to our members and communicate with our members on issues which may affect them.
Membership of the association costs £10.00 per year and is non-returnable. The membership fee is used as a “war chest” in the event that funds are needed for specialist or legal advice in planning matters, or in the case of the COVID-19 pandemic to assist vulnerable and isolating members of our community.
